To Enroll as a Student in the Visual Arts Program
Once enrolled, you may sign up seperately for any of the open class sessions, or scheduled workshops. Pay only for the classes or workshops you plan to attend.
Most classes and workshops are limited to 6 students, so be sure to sign up early! Your space in a class can only be confirmed after receipt of your payment, and enrollment will be taken on a first come, first serve basis.
Final deadlines for sign- up and payment are one week prior to the class date, or the workshop starting dates.

These weekly classes are designed to allow for personal growth and creativity. Choose your own projects, and receive guidance from the instructor according to your artistic needs. Personalized instruction based on your level of experience and skill. Also receive support, encouragement, and feedback from fellow art students!
Sign up for as many sessions as you like......one, two, or all twenty-six! Each session is limited to only six students, so be sure to sign up early!

Painting "en plein aire" (on location) can be both challenging and rewarding, an experience you won't want to miss! This workshop is for beginners, and
intermediates who wish to improve on their plein aire painting skills.
Each week we will meet at a different location, to paint the many changing colors of spring. Focus will be on lighting, shadows, color matching, and composition. Learn to paint quickly to capture the changing elements, while you enjoy the scenery of the great outdoors.
(Please dress for the weather. In the event of severe inclement weather, the class may be cancelled. Should that be necessary, a $20.00 credit for the missed session may be applied to another class or workshop.)

Would you like to learn how to create a two dimensional drawing that jumps off the page and comes to life?
In this workshop, you will learn to "see" the many shapes, shadows, reflective properties, and relationships of your subjects. We will be drawing from life, with a focus on creating an interesting composition, and using proper perspective.
Students will be encouraged to experiment with graphite pencil, and charcoal, in both a quick sketch and detailed drawing format. If you're a beginner, or you're looking to refresh your drawing skills, this workshop is for you!

In this workshop, we will work to capture the glorious colors of the summer sky, while working to keep our greens fresh and vibrant. We may even have the chance to paint some inspiring storm clouds!
Each week, we will meet at a different scenic location.
Focus will be on color, lighting, shadow, focal point, perspective, and composition. Learn to paint quickly,
while simplifying the detail to include your most important elements.

Did you ever wonder how an artist achieved that
particular color?
This workshop will explore the basics of color theory.
Using acrylics and oils, we will learn how to mix various colors from the group of primary and secondary colors. We will learn how to adjust a color's hue, tone, and value, and we'll experiment with the affects of complementary colors.
Finally, we'll attempt to apply what we've learned to a simplistic landscape painting.

This workshop is designed to help students plan and create an interesting and well balanced still-life composition. Students will paint from life, using objects they've brought in from home.
We'll experiment with lighting to create dramatic shadows and effects. Focus will be on highlights, relationships between shapes, color, and reflective properties. Instruction will also introduce the process of painting in thin layers, building one over the other, a process often used to create stunning highlights, and dramatic shadows.

The changing colors and dramatic shadows of the autumn landscape will be the focus of these two one day workshops. Working on location, students will explore the use of vibrant yellows, oranges, reds, and browns, to create stunning fall foliage, and exciting landscapes.
Students may attend one workshop, or sign up for both! Those participating in both sessions, will be encouraged to explore the various changes occuring in the landscape between the two sessions. We will focus on the difference in color, lighting, shadows, etc., and compare paintings done in September, to those done in October.
(Please bring a lunch, and be sure to dress for the weather. Also, please bring along a photograph of an autumn landscape to use as a reference, in the event the class is moved indoors due to inclement weather.)

Have you ever wanted to create a particular effect in one of your oil paintings, but weren't sure how to go
about it? Is so, this workshop is for you!
Designed for exploration and individual creativity, this workshop is for artists wishing to improve their skill and control over the oil medium. Students will choose their topic, and then explore various techniques for applying the paint, with emphasis on creating different textures, layering, and blending. We will experiment with different brushes and palette knives, while investigating the one stroke, wet on wet, and wet on dry applications. We will also discuss and explore different methods that may be used to create dramatic highlights, deep shadows, color variations, and atmosphere. If you're an oil painter, this workshop will help you develop control over your medium, and perhaps, a new style all of your own!

Snow is white.....right? Or is it?
Winter landscapes can be the most challenging to paint effectively, unless you're aware of the many colors hidden in the snow!
This workshop will explore the many color variations of snow, caused by reflections, and the effects of light. We'll investigate shadows, the sun's highlights, and the swirls and sways of the wind's furrows.
We'll discuss blending, and layering techniques, as we work toward creating a beautiful winter snow-scape.
If you thought white, blue, and black were the only colors you could use on your winter palette.....then come join the adventure in search of the rainbows!
